History of Girteka

• The Company commenced its operation in 1996 with one truck and three employees.

  In an effort to expand its offer of transportation services provided; Girteka began to develop its fleet of vehicles and in 1997 started to provide actively providing the forwarding services.

  By 1998 the total staff compliment consisted of 13 persons, and the turnover amounted to about 1,5 million Euro. During the subsequent year sufficient attention was provided for the development of services and work with customers.

  By the year 2000 Girteka had expanded their fleet to 15 vehicles and the team had risen to a compliment of 40 persons. Volumes of transportation services significantly increased and the turnover rose to 2,3 million Euro. With continuously increasing number of vehicles and volumes of services, new divisions and branches were established, and professional employees of various fields were employed in the company.

  In the year 2002 the number of employees had risen to 126 and the fleet had expanded to 50 vehicles, and turnover was 10,5 million Euro. Focusing on the establishment of steady position in the market of transportation and logistics and becoming the leading company in this field, Girteka was providing increasing attention not only to the development of its services but also for their quality and innovations.

• Being one of the major Lithuanian companies in transportation and logistics in 2004, Girteka was in the position to offer its customers the complex services of logistics, warehousing, transportation, all of which were provided by 477 professional employees, 160 vehicles and a new modern centre of logistics situated in a very convenient strategic location, next to the eastern border of the European Union and Belarus.

  The year 2005 was another notable milestone in the development of the company and gaining the leading positions in logistic and transportation services in the Baltic States – the number of vehicles increased to 260, the turnover to 46,5 million Euro and the centre of logistics expanded and developed as well, now featuring 4 new modern customs warehouses and 600 professional and dedicated employees. This is a valuable asset enabling us to provide the highest levels of service to our customers.
